Transmedial Spaces, Transmedial Stories - higher seminar at Stockholm University

Welcome to the higher seminar "Transmedial Spaces, Transmedial Stories" by Karin Becker and Geska Brečević at Stockholm University October 10, 2013.

The presentation traces a collaboration between Stockholm-based video artists and an artisan workshop in the village of Zegache St. Ana in Oaxaca, Mexico, and the co-production of a video animation of the local patron saint St. Ana, mother of Mary. In the article to be discussed at this seminar, mix of text and image are used to present narratives of locality, religion and artistic practice surrounding this animation as it has moved across different media platforms and locales. In the presentation, Karin and Geska examine the processes, forms of understanding and practices that unfolded in the planning and production of these works first, for the artists and artisans, and second, for other residents of Zegache, as they encounter the animated figure of St. Ana in different spaces and media formats.
